Hi All! My name is Rosa and I am the founder of Sparkling Smiles Doggy Dental Cleaning, where you pay less for a brighter smile! In my several years as a groomer I've gotten to work with all kinds of dogs. My biggest passion has always been to help animals feel and look their best. Getting to know the dogs and pet parents has been a great experience, but there is one major heartbreaking problem that I see almost every single day, and it's bad dental health. The pet parents come to me and say "I'm sorry they have bad breath. Their teeth are terrible, but I just can't afford to get their teeth cleaned right now" and it hurts to know that they care so much, but they can't spend thousands of dollars on dental care. I get it. Most of us can't do that. Dental bills are expensive, and some dogs can't be put under anesthesia, so what can you do? Brushing can't help when the tartar has built up a wall between the teeth and the toothbrush. Dental chews aren't going to get it off. You need a professional. That's where we can help you. Bad dental health is not just a problem in a dog's mouth. Periodontal disease can cause cardiovascular disease and many other problems as well, taking years off their life when not treated. While our cleanings will not treat gum disease and we can’t perform surgeries, we can get that nasty tartar off the surface of their teeth and alert you to any issues we may find. Tartar is a hardened plaque. It's a film made from bacteria which is what causes gum disease, bad breath, and tooth decay. Though a veterinarian will be needed to treat any infection or disease, this is a great way to maintain proper dental hygiene in addition to brushing teeth regularly, saving you time and money at the vet. In fact most cleanings are done in under one hour! Please note that dogs with gum disease need cleanings done by a licensed veterinarian to examine under the gum line. We can only remove surface tartar, while disease hides below the gum line. This service is for maintenance, not curing a pre-existing condition. So how does it work and is it safe? Absolutely. We use ultrasonic scalers to remove tartar from the teeth gently and carefully, as it breaks down the tartar using high-speed vibrations without intense scraping. To avoid scraping the enamel it will only vibrate when it touches the tartar and turns off immediately when it touches the gums or any soft tissue. Meanwhile, we wipe away the bacteria with minty chlorhexidine wipes that remove the broken off tartar and other bacteria. This makes it so that the bacteria is not swallowed. Plus, it freshens their breath! We sanitize our tools in between cleanings to prevent bacteria from spreading. Your dog’s safety is VERY important to us! Our prices are some of the lowest you will find in Tucson. Pricing starts at only $50-$70 for a touch up and increases gradually based on dog size and difficulty.
